Training: Check Point Security Engineering

Syllabus

Overview

This course provides hands-on training for building and configuring a network using the Check Point Security Gateway software blades and Gaia. Students will configure a Security Gateway in standalone and clustered deployments while implementing certificate-based and remote access VPNs.

Prerequisites

Students should have had CCSA training or possess equivalent knowledge. In addition, students should have a solid understanding of networking concepts, Microsoft Windows, Linux, and certificate management.

Objectives

Through classroom exercises and hands-on labs, students will learn:

  • Security Gateway infrastructures in depth, including chain modules, packet flow, kernel tables, and how to debug firewall processes.
  • How to build and troubleshoot High Availability (HA) environments using ClusterXL, SecureXL, CoreXL, and VRRP.
  • About User Management and incorporating Check Point into enterprise directory services.
  • How to build, manage, and optimize both site-to-site and certificate based VPN environments.
  • How to use Check Point’s data analysis tools (SmartLog, SmartEvent, and SmartReporter) to generate high-level reports and drill-down to interesting events.
